OUR LADY OF PONTMAIN 

On January 17, 1871, two children and eventually four children saw a beautiful lady suspended in the air above a neighboring house.  A nun in the crowd led everyone in prayer.  Seemingly at the same time, and for certain on the same day, a Prussian commander halted his army’s advance into France because of an “invisible Madonna barring the way.”  Roughly four months later a peace treaty was signed between France and Prussia.  In February 1872, the Bishop of Laval declared that Our Blessed Mother truly appeared to the children. Eventually, the a church was built and elevated to the level of a basilica.
