This 6x6" pink art print is printed on thick, high-quality Moab natural paper, the quality giving the impression of being an original work of art rather than a print.
Saint Maria Goretti (1890–1902) was an Italian girl who became a martyr at the young age of 11. She was born in Corinaldo, Italy, to a poor farming family. After her father’s death, Maria helped her mother take care of her siblings. In 1902, when she was just 11 years old, Maria was attacked by a young man named Alessandro Serenelli, who attempted to assault her. When she resisted, she was stabbed multiple times and later died from her injuries.
Before her death, Maria forgave Alessandro and expressed her desire for him to repent. Her deep faith and forgiveness made her a model of purity and courage. She was canonized as a saint by Pope Pius XII in 1950. Maria Goretti is the patron saint of young girls, purity, and victims of sexual assault. Her feast day is celebrated on July 6th.
Maria's greatest gift was her ability to forgive and love even those who hurt her, making her a brave and inspiring role model for all young people, particularly young women.
To all those dealing with trauma or holding onto resentment, Saint Maria Goretti, pray for them.
